LYNX Blue Line Extension Opens March 16!

The long awaited LYNX Blue Line Extension will be open for service on Friday, March 16.

Charlotte Area Transit System [CATS] will host a grand opening and ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. at three train stops, 9th Street, 36th Street and UNC CLT Main Station.

The Blue Line Extension is an extension of the successful LYNX Blue Line light rail service that extends from uptown Charlotte to the end of South Boulevard.
The new Extension will travel north — a 9.3-mile alignment from 7th Street Station in Center City through the NoDA [North Davidson] and University areas, ending on the UNC Charlotte campus.
CATS said that by including the LYNX Blue Line Extension in a comprehensive transportation system that includes roads, buses, streetcar and light rail can offer more transportation choices and alternatives to traffic congestion.
