Allstate’s Hot Chocolate 15k/5k and 4 other Races to Watch for in February

America’s Sweetest Race, the Allstate Hot Chocolate 15k/5k, established in 2008 in Chicago, will bring its innovative event to Charlotte on Saturday, Feb. 10.

The race will begin at 8 a.m. on East Seventh Street. The route uses East Seventh Street, Monroe Road, North Wendover Road, Beal Street, McAlway Road, Craig Avenue, Delane Avenue, Windemere Lane, North Sharon Amity Road, Colwick Road, Greenwich Road, Randolph Road, North Laurel Avenue, East Fifth Street, Park Drive and Armory Drive.

Each Allstate Hot Chocolate race features both a 15k [9.3 miles] and 5k [3.1 miles] distance – participants will receive an award winning goodie bag, which they collect at the expo along with their race packet according to the organizers.

The chocolate really begins to flow at the Post Race Party where runners enjoy music, a family friendly kid-zone [complete with bounce houses and games] and a finisher’s mugs filled with hot chocolate, chocolate fondue and dippable treats!

Charlotte 10-Miler

Starting in Ballantyne, this course follows South Charlotte’s McMullen Greenway to 4 Mile Creek along beautiful paved trails. The Charlotte 10-Miler will start near the intersection of Johnston Rd & Community House and end by Earth Fare on Johnston Road on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 7:30 a.m.

Post race mimosas will be available for purchase after the run. For $10 you get a champagne flute with race logo and two mimosas. Non-alcoholic versions will be available. Non-race participants are welcome as well. Race participants can sign up and add guests as a part of their registration.

The Chocolate Race 5-Miler

The event begins on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 8 a.m. at Romare Bearden Park in Uptown Charlotte. Event organizers expect 1,500 attendees. The route uses South Mint Street, West Morehead Street, South Cedar Street, West Fifth Street, South Tryon Street and West Boulevard.

14th Annual Cupid’s Cup 5k

The 14th Annual Cupid’s Cup 5k will take place on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 8:00 a.m. presented by Carolinas HealthCare Systems.

Proceeds from the Cupid’s Cup 5k will benefit Cardiac Rehabilitation programs at Carolinas HealthCare System – Pineville, Carolinas HealthCare System – Southpark and Carolinas HealthCare System – Union by providing funding for patient education, outreach, and patient scholarships.

New for 2018, proceeds from the Cupid’s Cup 5k will also support Cardiac Rehab “To-Go,” a pilot program designed to offer cardiac rehabilitation remotely to patients who cannot travel to clinic locations.

Cupid’s Undie Run

Cupid’s Undie Run, the largest pantless mile run party all for charity, will begin on Saturday, Feb. 17 at noon at 210 East Trade Street. The run begins at 2 p.m. The route uses College Street in front of the EpiCenter and uses East Fifth Street, North Tryon Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
